I’m nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there’s a pair of us—don’t tell!
They’d banish us, you know.
Language: English; Script: Latin-English
Author: Emily Dickinson; Book: Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson
Why I love it:
The lines are not just about two lovers who are not accepted by the society. It’s about everyone who has ever felt “being different”, be it artists, scientists, reformers, … And it’s about finding someone with whom you can be “openly different”, someone who understands your “different-ness”, celebrates it, or even shares it! There is no feeling like it!
